The nephews and I got out today for our final hunt of 2008. I dont like to finish the year on an odd number so I am happy that I found my 34th copper for the year. We returned to one of our favorite detecting spots and decided to hit the field that had harvested oats. It was a sloppy, muddy mess. SQUISH SQUIRT were the sounds for the day. Good thing I wore the waterproof boots. Many dropped and shot musketballs had by all. I also found this King George III Halfpence. It had more detail on it in the field but is beginning to flake and deteriorate. There used to be the Georgivus and the leaves around his head but POOF now they are gone. Oh well I can still make it out enough to identify. There is nothing like a 1700s coin to round out the year. Thanks to everyone who read my posts for this year and by all means " HAPPY NEW YEAR"...........CHRIS

Congrats on that 34th copper; I for one am happy to end on an odd number (in my case, 1 ;D). They are special coins!

AWSOME COPPER FIND.

My hunting buddy and I have found 8 or 9 this year and we were thrilled. 34 OMG !!!!!
CONGRATS!! YOU DA MAN !!

WOW!
Nice to meet you guys I'm new to this forum. I hope to be able to add alot to it. I'll try any ways.
You must be sitting over their mint up there somewhere. I may end up on an odd number at 13 so that to me isn't an unlucky number. It's also my daughters birthday. But I wouldn't mind evening that number. I'm on an old site from that time frame now and will be hunting these next few days so who knows. Great job and I wish you the same success next year.

I can't believe the PA. posse is still getting out. :o You guys went from really good colonial hunters to mythical beings this year Chris. 71 coppers is just amazing. I really hope you can get a good picture of all those coppers (and colonial silvers) together for a year end post. No time like the present to start on next year's copper totals. Keep getting out until the ground is frozen solid. :icon_king: :tongue3:

Congrats on a great year. Pass along the accolades to the "K" boys if you will sir. :D
