DAY 1
I went back to the middle school to cover some more of the ground. I didn’t have much luck last time, but if you don’t cover it all you’ll never know what is there. This trip I worked an area that was not very promising. I have done several walks over the area and didn’t have much luck.
I spent 5.5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 59 coins with a face value of $4.94, a ring, a silver quarter, 3 wheaties, an aluminum dog ID tag, a small brass hinge, a beaded pendant, a wing nut, an aluminum fake cigarette, 27 tabs, 5 pencil ends and only 2 aluminum bottle caps.
The wheaties are a 1929, 1941 and a crusty no date.
The silver quarter is a 1942 D. It was down in hard packed dirt that was run over a lot recently when they installed the new generator. Poor old George has had a hard time and has scratches on his face.
The ring was a nice surprise. It is a nice design and has a nice stone. It is sterling and the stone is a blue topaz. The stone measures at 2 carats and it is worth between $20 and $200. Probably closer to the $20 mark. This is another one my wife likes. It is too small for her, but it should be easy to get it sized. Keep the wife happy and I can detect almost any time I want.
DAY 2
I went to the K to 8 school and detected on the upper field. I spent 5.5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 41 coins with a face value of $3.00, a large copper, some odd pieces of metal, a wheatie, 2 Pepsi game tabs, an old sports cleat, a starter pistol blank, construction aluminum, copper pipe, rolled lead, aluminum bottle caps, can slaw, whole aluminum cans, 47 tabs and 2 pencil ends.
The triangular piece of metal has been badly beat up. It is actually copper that has been enameled. The back has a spot where a pin was affixed. It was a piece of jewelry.
The piece of metal beside the wheatie is the top of a small croatal bell. The loop has been broken off, but you can see the edges of some of the circular holes on the bell. I looked but didn’t find any more pieces of the bell.
I found the copper in a roadway leading up to the field used by the mower and vehicles bring work materials up for construction of the green house, pavilion and other work over the years. It is basically a dirt path that had gravel spread over most of it with grass growing down the center. The copper was down below the gravel in the center and is pretty toasted. I tried working on it to bring out any details like I have with other coppers, but this one is slick. No details left to bring out. It could be a large cent or a British copper, but there is no way know which one. I can say with confidence that it is old.

DAY 3
I went to the fields where I used to find Indian head pennies every time I went. The last trip didn’t turn one up but you can always hope. I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 28 coins with a face value of $2.43, a silver dime, a piece of junk jewelry, pieces of a toy truck hit by the lawn mower, aluminum bottle caps, aluminum tarp grommets, can slaw, an odd piece of iron and 56 tabs.
The silver dime is a nice 1942 mercury dime down about 3 inches in the very dry hard packed ground. I spent 3 hours working a grid on the sidelines of the field and only found 4 coins. Luckily the merc was one of them. She didn’t look like much when she came out of the ground because of the dry conditions, but she cleaned up nicely.
The odd iron piece was close enough to the surface that I got an overload signal so I had to dig it up. Not exactly sure what it is, but it looks very much like the end of a handle from a piece of farm equipment. I have seen whole handles like it on equipment in the past.
A short week this week because we are going to the beach tomorrow but I got some goodies including a sweet little ring and a large copper. A good week with hopes for the beach next week. Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.
