I went back to the park where I found the 22 kt gold ring. I was hunting another area. It was a boring hunt most of the morning. I was searching with AT Pro with the ground balance set at -10. I was listening for the deep tones. I found a 1943 P war nickle. Always nice to find a little silver during a hunt. I also found a toasted wheat penny. I found the usual trash, can slaw, bottle caps and aluminum foil. I was searching in a erratic pattern, not really caring which way I went.
I was cutting across a soccer field about 30 feet in front of the goal post. I got a sweet mid tone of 60-65. It was too irresistible not to dig. I dug down about 8" and here's where my heart stopped. As I searched the bottom of the plug I got a peak at the edge of a silver coin. Thinking it was either a merc or a rosie, i picked it up and whipped the dirt off. This what I saw. A King Carlos 1111 1/2 Reale. One more item off my long bucket list.

Wow, that's an amazing find!

Congrats on the sweet Spanish silver. That's a nice one to cross off the bucket list.

Congrats on the Reales! It's awesome when you see one of those come out of a hole. :occasion14:

What a keeper you got their. Good find!

Bet you weren't expecting to find that in a soccer field. Congrats!

Wow! Super cool. I didn't realize they were smaller than a penny. Nice find! What part of the country are you in?

Very good coin. Yours has a lot of meat on it too. Well done.

ok, I admit I am a dummy
what does the 1111 mean?

many thanks kind Sir

Nice Spanish!

Great find, congratulations! :occasion14:

Gotta love finding Spanish silver but especially where you least expect it. All mine have come from spots where I had already found a bunch of flat buttons and other period stuff

Thank you all for your comments. The park I have been hunting has given up a lot of flat buttons and some deep coins from the late 1800's. The area has been pounded heavily through the years.

Yes but has it given up colonial coppers or large cents. Those are the best indicators for finding Spanish

It has given up quite a few large cents. A friend of mine got one there Thursday.

Phenomenal find.....congratulations on that one!!
