Did some hunting today. First a field then the creek then on the way back I walked across what looks to be a quarry site by the flint cobbles I saw like the big one in the picture. There is no reason for flint chunks and cobbles to be in that part of the field where there is no water unless it use to be a spring or a camp site. I will check it out another day. Here is some of the things I saw and found. Nothing was whole. That would of been my best triangle if it was all there. One of those days Im sure all of us have them. rock

What's the deal with this one? In the photo it looks whole to me.. Like a stemmed point sharpened down to a nub.

Oops this one

Looked broken but might be a scraper it was thick. Its the one where my stick is pointing at it. In that pic you can enlarge it looks broken.

They're always thick when they've been sharpened down to that point.
Can you see what I'm talking about? Imagine the rest of a stemmed projectile point above it.
There's a progression from a first stage blade to it being exhausted like that one looks

Just read that you added to your response I didn't think the one in that photo even looked the same shape my mistake... The photo of it in your hand had it placed exactly the right way I guess to make it look like it was something else

Looks like signs of more to come in that field and for some reason after looking at your pics my ear worm for this evening is "in them old cotton fields back home". But then again, I'm homesick. It's been almost a year since I've been to Georgia...I miss my home State!

Dang boss nice stuff glad you got out ;)

Hey Peaches you aren't missing much this year. Most of the fields look like this with very few bare spots to look at. All the best places had thick grass on it.

Looks kinda Pee Dee Pentagonal? Material is right too.

I have found pee dees in the field there before. I put in in my scraper bag

Hey that's okay Rock. Those pieces still tell a story- and one day it'll rain hard, and there will definitely be more there-- hang in there! Yakker

Thanks Yak. We actually had a hard rain last week that put a bunch of leaf trash over most of my favorite gravel bars. Im hoping it will wash off this weekend. Pottery point looks terrible rite now.
