A man from Soviet Georgia on vacation with his wife and 2yo said he lost a silver chain in the water. I told him the chance of finding it was slim. Worked the area up to chest deep, found a quarter and a ring, and after 45 minutes got a big signal. It was his heavy silver chain with a 4 inch cross on it. His Father in law had given it to him, the look on his face was priceless. We now have a standing offer to visit them the next time we are in Russia...
The ring has no markings and at first just looked scratched, but the outside is embedded with some kind of sparkling stuff.

Nice finds. Too bad you couldn't find the chain for him, at least you tried.

Nice finds and I would have the ring checked out. It looks like crushed diamonds all around and may be worth something. I believe you did find the chain with the cross on it for that guy. It would have been nice to get a picture of it and him. HH Roy

There is nothing like the feeling of returning something to someone who was absolutely devastated by its loss. The reward in a great feeling that lasts for days is beyond any monetary reward. Nice finds and thanks for being a great ambassador for the sport.

Nice job, it helps build the sport of metal detecting.
