Warm today so I headed for the water.
GAR Park had way to many people in the water to hunt so I knocked on the Gentleman’s door that I had helped out last week and asked if I could hunt the water again.
He said sure, have fun.

5 hours hunt only gave up 6 coins total, 4 Lincolns, 1 1936 Quarter and a 1865 Indian.
The Quarter and the Indian are in bad shape, but they are keepers.
I picked a Pocket knife and an iron cog wheel of some sort. It will look good on the Iron wall.
I also picked up a lot of broken glass, iron and tin.
I also picked up the Biggest Pull tab I have ever seen.
I offered the 2 coins the land owner and showed him the rest of the junk that I dug up.
He declined the coins but said I had to take the junk with them.
He gave me permission to come back and hunt any time I wanted.

Cog Wheel, Gear Wheel :icon_scratch:
It will look good on the iron wall.

Happy Hunting

Great hunt! The cogg looks like a part from a water pump.

Sent from my iPad using TreasureNet

The top half of the wheel is solid and has 1 round hole. It might be for a stop pin or even a hand handle to turn the wheel.
I am just not sure what it could be yet.
Thank You cooknavy

Hey Kevin nice sliver quarter and like finding those IH Pennies , I spent 5 hours in the water yesterday and managed some clad about 56 cents and some junk so I would say you did pretty good. Good Luck and Good Hunting....

Story was someone recovered a bark canoe out of the lake years ago. Want to hit G.A.R. park east of there again but told sister i,ll bring daughter detecting ,she is across rd.from water but her friends on water, rather catch it midweek when its quiet but if kid doesn,t water hunt it i,ll see about permission to hunt again some weekend ,a few docks down probably from your latest finds. Nice finds too! H.H.

We have all had days like that but it beats setting on the couch.
Good luck with your next hunt.

There is a lot of history in that place.
I do not know where the Original Borders of the park were, from the pictures that I have seen it looks like most of the west side of the lake was once part of the GAR Reunion.
I had intended on hitting the River yesterday but 2 1/2 inches of rain would have raised the water to much.
We needed the rain Bad.

Nice '36 quarter and IH. the IHP looks pretty well pitted but can the quarter be salvaged. Any chance that it could be a '36s? I think there were something like 2million minted. Great finds. On an off-in-left-field note, I got about five drops of rain on my windshield and that was it. Certain areas yesterday were rather bothersome to dig because it is so dry-got a mighty blister :unhappysmiley:

I cleaned the Quarter up a little, it is a D and it is badly pitted.
The white clay bottom in this lake just seems to eat coins.
I went back to the lake yesterday and found another Silver Dime and some Boat tags, I will post them in a little bit.
Trying to find out what the Tags are.
We got another inch of rain that night, I would gladly send some your way if I could.
90 deg today, back to the lake.
Happy Hunting
