Only one coin today. At least it was a large cent.

Got out for a little while today in between the rain. I've had my eye on this farmers field for a while now. I'm waiting for the corn to come down so I can hit the area more completely. I was anxious to see what I might find here so I skirted the side of the field (see first picture). Walked about 100 yards in. Picked up a few signals along the way but not much to speak of. On the way back out I was staying pretty close to the tree line and I picked up a good quarter hit underneath some bushes. After moving the bushes out of the way I was able to pinpoint the signal at 5 1/2 inches. I was pleased to see the copper disk in the hole (pictures 2 and 3). I was almost positive this was a colonial coin. I have found colonial era relics here before. After soaking the coin in olive oil I saw that it was a matron head large cent. I cant read the date yet but I still have it soaking. Looks like it might be 1820's. I also found a flat button and a few other miscellaneous relics. My brother was out with me this morning also and he was able to find his first fired bullet. Thanks for looking.

Thanks Ridley. I'm sure its a matron head (1816-1836 for non-modified Matron Heads). If it were 1801 or 1804 it would be a Draped bust and the profile would be facing right.
