Have a friend looking to get started in the hobby, he is looking at the fisher F 2. Can any one give any advice on the pro 's and con's of the machine and reputation of the company. Any opinions would be appreciated.

The F2 is an excellent starter detector.
It is one of the lowest priced machines to offer VDI numbers - -
the two-digit target ID that tells you what's in the ground before
you dig.
