Had a few hours to kill and the clouds burned off, so I headed down to the Bronx, for a spin on the dry sand of Orchard Beach. My first trip to Orchard Beach – just a few days ago, was a workout. It was raining, so I took my PI water machine, the Tesoro Sand Shark. I dug A LOT of bottle caps and iron, but I did get a 1955 silver dime, and a junk earring.

Today, I took the Tesoro Lobo SuperTRAQ, and set the discrimination just above iron (4). About two-hours into my three-hour hunt, a bulldozer started a fresh push on the beach! Well, you KNOW I jumped right in behind him and started swinging!

Started picking up 1960s and ‘70s clad right away, then about 60-yards from where I started – SWEET SIGNAL! I scooped and it was still in the hole, so I started to swing the coil over the hole again when I SAW it! I know that ‘grey’ color all too well – a 1945 Merc! Two silver dimes in two trips. “Da Bronx Baby!”

That's so cool! To be there at the right time at the right place! WTG Terry

As a boy, I was at horse shiite beach all the time. Morris Park was my hang out.

I think that dime is the one I lost as a teenager.

Good show!

Can I barrow that bulldozer!!!! ;D

Snt

Terry I've never seen a Dozer do that on a beach over here - what is the purpose?

Smoogle, I wish I could tell you! He pushed a trough all the way down the south end of the beach (1/4-mile), about 15-feet off the walkway. If I had not had to pick up my gal from work, I would still be there!!!! :laughing7:

Thanks everyone for the kind words and congrats! :notworthy:

Just looking again at the cut the dozer made ... are you going to hit that again ... it does not look to be where the high tide will wash? Really strange that shot of the sand plowed away across the sand ... if you go back hope you score.

And that is what I call . not covering your Hole

Looks like you had a great time!
I remember Orchard Beach well. We all used to go "submarine race watching" in the parking lot there at night, in the 60's. ;D
