Ordered new water scoop today....

I went with the diamond Back scoop From Nuttall. Seem like a nice stout scoop and plenty positive reviews. My Big sand scoop is not getting the job done in the water .... Great for the wet and dry. Guzz1

What big sand scoop are you referring to? It's not getting the job done in the water.

Can you recommend a dry-wet sand scoop

Hey Guzz. I got to the water this weekend. I had to give up on some targets because I could not get down to them because of the hole filling in before I could reach the target. I am still using the Infinium and that seems to be the one curse it has that I don't like. On those deep targets that it can find where others can't, I get a whisper of a sound and I dread it because I know it is deep and I also know I've gotta try to reach it. I worked on one hole determined I was going to get down to the target for at least 15 minutes. It actually shortened my day because I just wore myself out. I got down to where I knew I was about a scoop away but that is where the hole just kept beating me. By that time, the hole just kept filling in faster than I could get the sand out. I even tried fanning the hole with my foot which usually works. I repeated this about 10 or so times during the day. Let us know how that scoop does because I am in need of something that will get down deep with no issues. I am not sure that exists.

Hey Max Thanks for kind words ..I'M Just trying to ease the work load .. scoop I have is great but it will tend to twist on me as Im penetrating the sand. I Hear the diamond back has a design that you get no twisting .. straight shot to the target. I'll give a try and see how She does..It will be here today.. i'll keep you all posted ..... Guzz1

The scoop twisting while digging seems to be a bit of a problem for me also.
I await your pics and evaluation.

Some one please tell me where the heck is the treasure! The first two months that I had my excal2 I found 17 rings, some good some not so good.

I keep falling asleep while working the water. Yesterday I woke up underwater. Scary.

I just reviewed the web site for the scoop. Two questions have I.
One: any possible issues with a fiberglass handle? Breakage?

Two: It seems that it would be difficult to retrieve anything in the confined bottom of the acute angles.

Any thoughts?

No expert here but ive destroyed many axeS w/wooden handles.
We converted to fiberglass handles at my fire houses and never broke one again.

Hey Montauk3, the handle has no issues, it's tougher then oak and i have all the confinance it will hold up.

Take a look in your big box stores and check out how many shovels and commercial hand tool makers
have gone the fiberglass route. Even garden & lawn have switched over, yes, the age of wood has come to
an end.
As for retrieving targets there again, no problems or i wouldn't have purchased a second one.

Twisting........ has NEVER! happen, not even when I stepped wrong, it dung in!

Guzz...... your going to love it !!! You know I have way too many scoops.....but i always go back to the diamond from nuttall. If you have any reservation about the fiberglass handle I'll trade you......it's made to dig Infinium
signals, those deep ones....rdi

When mine came today I couldn't believe how nice it was, way better than I pictured. Now that a scoop, can't wait to get my machine back to try it out.... I am sure it will make life easier...
