I don't know about Lane county, but in Douglas county all the parks are open for detecting. Generally any state parks or beaches you need to get a permit. At Sunset Beach in Coos Bay you get the permit from the ranger at the camp ground. In Reeds Port the dunes where the off roaders camp and drive ATV's in the dunes is county and open to detecting, and I also detect the beach without a permit, and nobody has said anything. Detecting Federal land can be dicey, but it's legal to look for gold nuggets without asking for permission. There is pocket gold in areas of Douglas county, and a few years ago a rancher in Myrtle Creek found a fist sized nugget on his property on North Myrtle, and I've prospected in the Glendale/Hungry Hill area when I could get around in the woods, and would like to do some prospecting now up the North Umpqua, but my age and health has brought all that to a screeching halt.
