They look like Chinese association gaming tokens

So the backs are blank?
The large character is Chinese for love, and the smaller different one is wealth I believe.
It looks like there is a series of holes around the perimeter of the larger (maybe on the smaller too?)... So perhaps they are sewn onto something?

When I stated that I thought they were gaming "tokens" I used the wrong description.
I should have said gaming "chip" similar to these pictured.

That being said I think that Ben is more on the right path with the small holes in the edges and being used for some type of jewelry.
The large character in the middle is a Caricature for LOVE and the four smaller ones Caricatures for Wealth/Money-Love

Thanks!

The backs are exactly the same.

Probably something like a good luck charm or medal then. Thanks for the effort guys
