Who ever detected Lotus Lake Park in Orlando Today, if you are new to the hobby, there is a code of conduct we try to follow, one of the main points is to always cover your holes. Please do this.... ;)

If you are not new to the hobby and you left all those holes, then you know better and your making it look bad for the rest of us and you will get us banned from detecting these parks if you don't start covering your holes up.... >:( >:( >:( >:(

I covered up at least 30 to 40 holes today there, none were deep and would have been very easy for you to have covered them yourself. >:( >:( >:( >:(

Yes even 4 to 6 inch holes look bad and should always be covered up.... >:( >:( >:( >:(

It looked like a half dozen dogs had been digging in the playground, no excuse for leaving it that way at all!!! >:( >:( >:( >:(

I am just sorry I wasn't there when the person who was making them was still there.......... >:( >:( >:( >:(

You tell 'em! I would hope they don't frequent this forum, they would already know better. Of course, it's only common sense (and common decency) anyway. Probably live in a sty too, friggin slob.

Slobs are slobs. I was on Myrtle Beach hunting the beach when I ran across a couple from the woods of NC (cowboy boots and all) digging away with a spade. I noticed that after they dug halfway to China they would just leave it and go on to the next dig. I caught up with them and found out they were new to the hobby. I explained very clearly about filling the holes they dig and how it reflects poorly on the hobby if they don't. They listened intently and filled their holes until they thought I wasn't watching any longer. They then went back to digging big holes and leaving them for someone to break a leg in. JERKS!

That's my rant.

I totally agree with you guys.

I have had to cover many holes other people have left at the beach. I have also told people to cover their holes but as you know bad habits are hard to fix!

Perhaps we should post this in all topic areas as a reminder for people to cover their holes no matter where they are of whether they think anyone is looking. Make it a New Year resolution! Cover your holes and we will all be better off.

I was detecting the water at Siesta Beach 5 or 6 years ago, and noticed some guys on the dry sand. I talked to them and found out they were from Orlando or kissimmee, and noticed they werent filling their holes. At least one had a CZ-20. I told them it looks bad if they metal detect and leave holes unfilled, they acted concerned and I went back to water detecting. They had hunted in a grid pattern with their scoops dragging and I could tell where they had detected. They didnt fill any holes! I walked around with my detector and filled their holes, and I noticed they didnt find any clad coins, as there was a bunch in the area, and the weird thing is, they put the trash back in the unfilled holes! Bottle tops and cans etc was left in the holes after they dug it up. It looked like they didnt find anything but trash and missed at least all the coins. Weird! Bad for the regular folks at the beach, as the lifeguards or sherriffs will notice this and not allow metal detecting in the future. That is why I fill in all my holes, and keep the junk and put it all in a garbage can at the end of the hunt. Sometimes i show it-junk-to the lifeguard so they know I am picking up sharp metal objects- especially after 4th of July- all the sparklers, and let them know we are doing a good job of clean up.

Are you sure it wasn't this guy.

Nope, it was someone detecting, you could tell by the holes and the trash they left behind when the target turned out to be junk.

my buds and I even spent part of a day fixing the knuckleheads who did it holes covering each of them hoping he would let us hunt it, other than a ty we were still told nope
