Hello All,

The finds haven't been stellar these past few hunts, so instead of a lot of commentary I'll just post some photos. We had a rare opportunity to hunt a summer wheat field last week (24-hour window between harvest and re-planting, and we made it!)...so I put some before and after photos of the field below. Also went on a crazy hunt where we forded a creek Twice in my Mazda 626 (note to self--do NOT do that again! LOL) So there are some photos of that whole process. ::) Best find was a civilian button from the wheat field. Its quality mark is "Extra Fein" (German Immigrant's button, I'd imagine)--which makes it a pretty cool find.

We're taking it easy when it's over 90 outside, so the regular Tuesday hunt will be dependent on weather until harvest.

Anyhow, enjoy the photos.

Regards,

Buckleboy

Nice pictures and cool button!! We have some township roads in our area that cross through creeks. My wife and i found out recently that we shouldn't try it with our Harley tho ;D

The button is interesting. It is always nice to find something with a twist.

I will alter my lifeways to come into compliance with the sign.

So many German names on my maps and on the streets there--I'm glad I found something that was more directly related to Immigrant life.

In terms of the sign...I hope you aren't Jewish.

Great post and Pics Buckles
Love that button

As always BB, the pictures are great! You know and I don't have to tell you of the highs and lows in this

hobby we all go throughem. But, you are able to scratch those areas of the list....that is always good to me.

And you still are finding some items like that button which is in very NICE shape and which

I concur about its immigrant origin!  I bet that

was at first a fun prospect of fording the creek which led to an adrenaline rush and you were probably like "Okay

I'm gonna take this creeK ;D" Glad you got through it. I have come close several times myself of regretting

trying to cross a flooded road as I too came close to flooding my truck. About halfway through it the adrenaline

starts to wear off and then you are like S#%T let me get through this QUICKLY!!! Nice post Bud!!

 :D Condensed version works for me! Always great to see you, handsome. And you're right about the fields vs the woods. 8) Great photo's!

Very nice button and glad ya made it through the crick! :D

You're exactly right, buddy! I will not try that again in such a LOW riding car! I was just thinking "Keep moving. Keep moving." LOL

It is nice to mark sites of the list--so when we descend on the fields like Rabid Vultures in the fall we won't have to worry about some of the sites. The wheat field spot is one of the first that doesn't even beg a return trip. The area was Tiny--and we pounded it to death. I see it as penance for the hunt where Bonzaibrandi racked up on the old coins with her LC, IH, V Nickel, and I got my silver thimble. Its those occasional moments of glory that make it all worthwhile--and the prospect of having such cool adventures.

Hunts like this defamiliarize the familiar. Everything starts to look cool.

Buckles

A rookie is one GPS unit away from a Pro, right? :tongue3:

Very nice job on the button! Must have been a beautifull day!!! ;D Glad you had fun!

Thanks for sharing those pics! Looks like you had a good time.

Great photos awesome place

Nice little button. But what about the creek? Looks like a real nice swimming hole area. Any goodies in the water?

That button's awesome!

Yes, I'd recommend keeping the mud off the Mazda! :)
Water's no good for hot exhaust manifolds!

Great pics. :)

All that for a button? It was a nice button. And I understand - it's not always about the finds but the adventure. ;D

Why not do it again? Did you get stuck? Something go bad?

Bob
