Hope you find some good stuff down there. My brother in law used to live in Hatteras and we used to visit him there...unfortunately back then I didn't detect. (I know Hatteras is protected). I've got you guys beat on the Chucky Cheese tokens...27.

well guys, weather has not been cooperating and I figured it wouldn't be smart to swing a detector in the middle of lightning storms, so not much happening down here. found a new nickel and penny yesterday, but not much else. The area I am in is pretty private and I think that is hurting the detecting. Most people walk down to the beach with nothing on them, so there is less to lose. I checked out some ears/hands etc and no one seems to be wearing anything :(
I guess they are starting to get smarter! We are shipping out early a.m. friday, so I doubt i'll get any more detecting time, but it was fun while it lasted.
Happy Hunting All!

It was fun while it lasted. Have a safe trip home. TEX

found a matchbox car, a key, two quarters, a nickel and 3 pennies today in 30 minutes.
Heading out in the a.m. Thanks Tex, that is the most important part of the trip.

Safe trip home...what are you around 8 hours from home?

NJ

Ouch...12.5 hours. If I drive at night when the kids are sleeping it takes me a little over 7 hours from NJ. One gas stop and one Red Bull gets me through the night.

If the wife and kids are up it takes at least 8.5+ hours. Bathroom breaks, food stops and shopping.

it takes me 15 hours to the banks! i love it there ive been going for 3 years now. willy

yep, two rings.......otherwise known as copper pipe cutoffs ;D

I was psyched when I dug each of them thinking I finally found one, but it was not to be!

4H, that probe worked AWESOME in the sand by the way, thanks again!

We are back home, back to reality and back to work tomorrow :-[

and back to digging in the dirt instead of sand. Til next year!

Better luck next time...It took me a trip or two down to the OBX before I started finding decent finds. I did a lot of trial by error detecting and reading to try to increase my finds ratio.

When you mentioned probe are speaking about a pinpointer. I love my pinpointer but as soon as I'm going to do some beach hunting I take it off. I find with a scoop it is just faster to scoop instead of pinpoint. In the dry ground I would be lost without my pinpointer.

NJ

NJ, yes, I was referring to the SunRay Probe/PinPointer that I recently bought from 4-H.
To each their own I guess :), I found that it was much easier to hit a signal, drop the detector, grab the pinpointer and dig with my hands. Faster results for me as compared to shaking wet sand through the sifter. especially at the site with over 100 coins, i would have been sifting for days ;D
