Outer Banks

I am very new to detecting and I am traveling to Waves on the Outer Banks. Any do's or don'ts?

I believe that Waves is part of the Hatteras National Seashore and metal detecting is illegal. If they catch you they will take your detector, and or fine you. It's not worth it! Go up to Nags head, they just had a lot of houses wash away with the last Nor Easter, there should be plenty to find up there.
