DCMatt was correct. This is a pocket good luck charm. I believe the first of the two marks is a letter 'V' in a square block and is for 'Vilmain'. Judy Vilmain and David Klinger designed and produced all manner of small pewter ornaments and knick-knacks from around the mid 1900s as 'Vilmain & Klinger' with a 'V&K' mark. The business later continued as the Vilmain Pewter Company and their mark as just a 'V' and usually with the 'plus' sign alongside it (ie this is modern, bordering on vintage).
