Went to check out a new spot today on some old farmland. Pretty overgrown and hard to swing around in but I did manage a few interesting finds. But the best find was this giant patch of ramps. For those of you not familiar with ramps, as they only grow around New England, they are basically a wild onion, like scallions only with a meatier bulb on the end. I've only ever see small patches here and there before but this was the mother load. They are only around for a month or so in the spring and can sell for a good amount but have been over harvested and become less and less common. I took a small amount home to share with friends and I'm looking forward to grilling some up this weekend!
