about 6 inches to 8 inches max on most coins * a lot depends upon the soil as to how far it can detect -- in bad mineral areas less depth --in "sweet" ground I'd say 6 to 8 inches
 

I use this detector and last year I found a quite a bit of silver coins and a gold ring. There is nothing wron with the detector but just takes a little bit of time to learn.

i have the pioneer 101 its basically the same machine.had it like 5 years now.just fancier wrapping.your soil is probably different than mine here.i get about 4 inches max.a lot of mineralization here.but i always use discrimination cranked all the way up.because you will dig a lot of junk with this machine and you can find gold but you'll have to dig every single aluminum pull tab tone you get to do it.be sure to keep me posted let me know how it goes?nomad-

oh and i forgot.i think tone mode works best.for me anyway-
 

tone mode sense cranked disc at halfish or under depends on how much you can tollerate ive found tons of silver relics ihs wheats largies gets good depth i have 11in dd and 4 in for it im learning my f4 now but tracker is always in the car
 

in 3.5 hours of hunting tot lots I have found 49 pennies 6 nickles 6 dimes 10 quarters 3 pieces of junk jewelry. hunt very low disc and high sens. Last hunt Took of my 4" coil went back to stock.
