I found some keepers in an old yard in Hillsdale yesterday. The ring had me on cloud 9 for sure. I haven’t been able to find much on it or the hallmark, but I think the general consensus is that it’s not actually from 1830, but that was when the college was founded. Either way I’m stoked and consider it one of my best finds. Some other goodies pictures. Thanks for looking and HH, Griff.

Some history:
In 1849 a group of men established the Oxford Female Institute in Oxford, Ohio. In 1867, the Institute merged with the Oxford Female College. In 1890, this college changed its name to Oxford College, the legend on your ring. Sixteen years later, the institution became known at the Oxford College for Women. Oxford College is situated next to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (often misunderstood as being located in Florida). MU has assumed control over Oxford College. Note: 'Back in the day', I dated the girls from Oxford College-while I attended MU.
I have no idea what the numbers 1830 represent.

Google Virgin Mary vision of 1830. Only 1830 date I know of real importance. Maybe one the States got its statehood in that year, don't know.

I did find one reference to the 1830 date:

  1. Flower, Olive. The History of the Oxford College for Women, 1830-1928. N.p.: Miami University Alumni Association, 1949.
