First of all this was found under a floor board in my old shed. My property was a working farm and also had pigs once upon a time and the "shed" was the old smoke house where they cured the hams. My wife has been turning it into her garden shed and in the process of cleaning it out she found this gizmo. It's made in 2 pieces that fit together and the "handle" part is able to slide back & forth. Very heavy cast iron and for scale I would say the round part is a little bigger in diameter than a basketball. Anyone ever see anything like this before ?

.....Looks like a large ash sifter...just the handle extends from the firebox. Toggle it back and forth to drop ash and clear(one of)the airways. Haven't seen one that large yet. Any other markings or stove parts around ?
