part of old coin,maybe gold?

Could someone identify this part of a coin I dug up? Gives a gold reading , low tone. Smaller than a dime too. Wish I had found the entire coin though.

I think this should be under the 'What Is It?' category. Doesn't look like gold to me-- more like tarnished brass from the color of it. Gold rarely gets any tarnish. Might be a religious medallion-- hard to say without a picture of the other side.

I have said it a zillion times, Gold always looks like gold, it does not tarnish, etc. That does not look like Gold!

I'm not so sure its a coin at all, we need more pictures of both sides. Like others state, it looks more like brass/copper than gold.

Oh well it was absolutely nothing.It actualy had a fold in it that I did not see and when I took it apart ,it all broke upand was very thin. Big time JUNK.Sorry for even posting this pic. I was just dreaming of gold with that low tone it had......
