Last night as I was checking out some new possible digging sites I came across an empty lot that had been cleared for new construction.

So I get out and start swinging and all I'm finding are pennies. The ground was super hot with trash plus I was having some technical difficulties with my metal detector, user error of course, but I was still able to pull some keepers.

I started pulling older Lincoln Memorial's first, then went on a run of four wheat pennies in a row, next came a new shield penny and after that I was done and walking back to car with lots of disappointment as I have yet to find a silver coin this year. And I knew this spot should have one but I just could not find them.

Then out of nowhere I get a weird signal that had me a little confused, but it was good tones so I dug it and found this IHP only about 6 inches down. Needless to say, that turned my whole hunt around.

So I stop what I'm doing to fix my metal detector, battery was out of socket, and then went into slow mode looking for more good stuff.

About that time the landowner showed up and ran me off the property. He was really nice about it but said that he was going to start building his home on the property in a few days and just preferred I didn't dig any holes on the empty lot while they were grading the property.

I told him that now would be actually the perfect time to find treasure and I would gladly share with him what I found before the real grading started but he wasn't having none of that. This was also in a rich and fancy part of town you know how those stuck up people can be.

It's a little toasty but I love it especially since it's my first.

As always, thanks for stopping by, checking out my post, and digging my digs :icon_thumright:
Hope everyone has a great Friday and fantastic weekend. hope you take some time to spend with your family and swing your metal detectors!

Congrats on your first IHC! Doesn't matter how it looks when it's your first:thumbsup:

Thank you, and it's my oldest coin to date. My oldest had been a 1909 British penny prior to this IHP

So you will be sneaking back tonight afterdark.....?!? :)

Lololol - unfortunately not, although highly tempted. This seems like the type a neighborhood where you shouldn't push your luck
