A Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service for Friday, July 25th, 2025 for Schuylkill County and nearby Pennsylvania counties.
HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM EDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 104 expected.

* WHERE...Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Franklin, Fulton, Lancaster, Lebanon, Perry, Schuylkill, and York Counties.

* WHEN...From 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...This level of heat affects anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration. Impacts likely in some health systems, heat-sensitive industries and infrastructure.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. This is especially true during hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK.

I saw an interview with the guy who invented the Heat Index. When asked how old he was, he said 87 but I feel like 102 :laughing7:

Jeff PLEASE Stay cool and SAFE over there !!!

Should one be getting too hot a partial bathtub of cool water to sit in can help.
Guard against slips or falls of course and stay hydrated.
Regarding cooling off during a hot day.
It seems that a cool shower, isn't the best option.
Actually a warmer shower is better for cooling the body.
Cold/cool water constricts blood vessels, which then the body retains the heat.

Warm/hotter water opens the pores up, then the body can expel the excess heat.

same here I have 2 Fans on used to be 5 before Installing a New AC.
(Not a Rusty Antique with holes rotted through any More)
the fans are on 24/7

My Door to the bedroom and
batroom is closed

only thing cooled is the livingroom and kitchen

No idea on temps other then comfortable at full

Small house sized ovens over 300 F. kept the shop hot at one long term of employment. Touch a metal support on the line and blister.
A wet rag on the back of the neck functioned a bit like a sweat band but cooled larger veins/arteries.

People would put a sweat band on without wetting it.
Like what are you doing? L.o.l.. .

If someone is in trouble from being over heated ; robbing heat from them is important. Osmosis can do it with cool water. No don't send them into shock or convulsions by plunging them.
Same with self.

Later the foundry employment required long pants, glasses, boots, and facemask and hardhat and gloves and...Summers were rather warm there too.
I didn't use hot water to wash hands much. Wrists are part of human radiators though.

right now electric

Average Daily Cost

$3.79

should drop at least to $3 after the end of the month
when I can Open Windows for Cooling :coffee2:

Moved from Pa to Az in 2010. Hit 118 the other day. I just jump in the pool. Others go for a hike and die. When driving in hot conditions I carry ice water in case of a issue.

A "partial bathtub" might not hold enough cool water for those temperatures! :laughing7:

A lot of people die out there in the Desert don't they with out someone killing them. Just lack of water i think and maybe the heat ?

You must be the only member with a batroom, that's so cool.
