I drive route 7 everyday to and from work in Charles Town, WV... I teach school. Everyday I check this set of fields along the way to see if anyone is there. There are cows in the fields, used to be a log cabin, old corn crib, and a graveyard. This is on the site of the battle of Berryville and Third Winchester.. I caught a glimpse of a truck down in the turn in, so I pulled a u-turn, went up and introduced myself. He was 81 years old and looked like he was 60... we stood and talked for an hour. He gave me permission there and all his other properties! Almost 200 acres! All battleground... I’m so stoked, I can’t stand it!!! Whoohooo!

We'll be up this weekend to help you dig........lol..........great permission!!!

I come down to Jefferson County WV from time to time. Have found numerous CW relics there including a CS Tongue and numerous Colonial relics there including two Rev War buttons. The whole area is a relic hunters dream, and you sound like you're gonna be living the dream here real soon!

Great permission. I am not far away in Martinsburg and have my eyes on a few properties where troops passed through. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Oh boy,, oh boy.
You are going to be busy.
Congratulations and take lots of pictures.

Congratulations on an excellent permission!! I hope it bears awesome fruit, I look forward to drooling over your finds 🤪

Go for it. And good luck !!!!! What a Christmas gift .

Lesson for all....just ask because all they can say is either yes or no. That being said, take some research with you and chances go up dramatically.

That was a hour well spent...a good chat goes a long ways in proving your intentions and people will see we are not in it for the money.
go go go and a git git git!

Just an amazing opportunity! 200 acres of congratulations to you sir!

Wow! Jealous of you. Have fun and post a lot of pics of the great things you're sure to find.

Isn’t it such a good feeling to eye a place thinking you’ll never get permission if you seek it...only to find you DO get permission! Good for you. That’s a lifetime of hunting there! I had my eye on an old schoolhouse and have gotten permission and have been there 8 times and keep finding things. Such fun. DO enjoy and I look forward to your posts!
