I need some help from the experts or at least the knowledgeable. This tray is copper and hand engraved and silver washed. The images tell a story. Not sure which one though. It is 30 inches across. The original owner was a missionary years ago. This is an area of antiques where I know very little. Thanks for whatever help you can give. 20160417_182734.webp20160417_182722.webp

These types of "story scenes" are popular on Persian trays. You have a nice hand chased Persian tinned copper tray that was probably made in the early 1900's and sold to tourists during their travels. I think it's worth at least $150-$200 to the right buyer, since it's a decent sized tray. It's not as intricate as some but it's not bad. I might add that the details do show better when you enlarge the photos, one click really doesn't do it justice. Nice tray.

More research would be needed to determine the style of the tooling, as in what particular region of the middle east it was actually made, but that is beyond what I have time to do.

Yeah, it really has a lot of hand engraving. I see the pressed or stamped ones occasionally. This one had such a level of engraving that I knew someone spent hours making it. I have another that is covered in intricate geometric design. It's prettier but not as interesting as this one. Here is another pic to show some of the detail.
