Hello, today I just had to create a post and share with my fellow detectorists. I have been an avid coin collector for over 40 years, always on a budget and could never justify buying the key dates, too busy spending money on raising a family. Today my hard work has finally paid off. With my recently acquired White V3i, I took to an old school built in 1912. Hunting the sidewalk after only an hour, I hit a 1914 wheat cent. Had to wait til I was home to put my loupe on it to read the mint mark, my eyesight aint what it used to be. 1914 D...all the way. Graded Very Fine IMHO. THE GOOD STUFF IS STILL OUT THERE !

So cool you all have a bond with that coin too. It still amazes me whats buried in the ground. Thanks for the great replay BigWaveDave !

Very Nice!!! Congrats!!!

Those things are so rare that I saw a fake one someone had made. They took a 14 plain and drilled a tiny hole where the D would be. Then cut a D from another coin and inserted it in the hole. Perfect job, nearly invisible. I'm betting yours is a real one! Gary

Congrats for nailing that key date Lincoln- I totally agree that there's still plenty of good stuff out there- Continued success to you!

Welcome to tnet

If you just bought machine, good advice is to stick with the pre programmed coin and coin and jewelry programs. Turn on and go. Later after reading manuals and you tube videos, experiment with settings. Dig any consistent signal that has a VDI that does not vary more than 3 numbers. With good spectra graph display. Good luck !
