One of the comments on that site suggests the trainees go to an big city ER and work with gunshot victims. Good idea. Pigs are one thing but why not learn on actual humans. That is what they will be treating anyway.

Maybe some PETA protesters will throw themselves in front of the pigs just before they're shot at. Solves 2 problems at once.... :D

Exactly.

I know if I enterd the hospital on a Gurney bleeding Profusley,
The last thing I'd want is some army trainees pokeing around
inspecting my wounds to see what a bullet does.

I'd definately Sue in this Case & I don't believe in Sueing.

That's what animals are for.

Although I think Shaved apes would be closer to Human tissue.

I hope that the lessons learned are carried over and lives are saved down-range.

I also hope the ham tastes good.

This is not a new training technique.

Well said Jim,

IMHO ...The only difference between the pita guys and the pigs is...

You can't eat the pita guys when the exercise is over.

i'm no PETA guy for sure. armed and dangerous. i love piggies dead and alive. but damn, shoot them for practice? i was a paramedic for lots of years. jump in a bus, go pick up wrecks, go to the E.R. lots of practice. and N.Y. pays for it all.

pig heart valves
pig skin graphs
etc
very close to humans physiologically

Your right Edde and another thing that might suprise. Pigs can solve puzzles and learn tricks about 10 times faster than a smart dog.
I hate to say it , but it sure is food for thought

Lemme tell ya, on alot of issues i'm VERY liberal, and i'm not a big fan of making animals suffer, but PETA annoys the hell out of me.

'nuff said.

They shouldn't let the piggies go to waste, they should be dispersed throughout
Iraq & Afghanistan. BBQ poke might be tasty over a camel dung fire.

according to the article they anesthetize them before shooting them.

They May have to advertise the meet as "Party Porkers"

or "Sleepytime Swine"
