Found this today in creekbed while looking for points. Is this petrified wood or just a layered sandstone or something else? Thanks

im fully aware, i found what i thought was petrified wood, turned out to be mammoth ivory

Sorry, but you’re still not showing Schreger lines. Schreger lines cross at an angle. They don’t run parallel to the outside curve of the tusk. Mammoth lines cross at about 90° like this pic. African elephant lines cross at 45°.
