found at colonial farm site CT, measures approx 4"

hollow, with two mounting holes at wider end

any idea what this maybe?

Is it a whistle? Bosman whistle?

It could be an old Georgian era toy cannon, assuming there is a hole on one side.
Toy cannons were a very popular children's toy in the 18th century and they used real gun powder.

The larger hole reminds me of a blowhole to a flute. I wonder if it is just a small piece of a larger instrument.

Looks like the end of a tent pole.

Larger end may have held a gate for a valve? A barrel tap, or vent for a barrel maybe?

it was found in a barn foundation area

Celtex's guess (he used a question-mark) is correct... it is a whistle. Speaking more specifically, it is a pewter whistle from the very-early-1800s.
