Could be CW era or after, if it is peweter...Where was it found? Appears to be quite old. Don't know about the shell mark, although it is makers logo. Searching that right now, but not able to find out anything... ..Nice early plate.

that reminds me so much of the old shipwreck plates...some had the pectin shell.
My guess that it dates earlier than 1800s....more like early to mid 1700s.
where did you find it?
I found it under the floor boards of an abandoned house . A small closet/room off the kitchen ( pantry?) . Maine . I'm pretty sure it's pewter - it bends easily around te edges .
Yes, that's a pewter plate. Trez is right, it could date into the 1700's.
The only other thing it could possibly be is Britannia metal, which is really just a type of pewter anyway.
That particular example has "tin pest", which I believe is caused by one form of tin turning into another form. (There are 2 allotropic forms of tin, the one you don't want is gray and all crumbly.) It happens worse when something is left in the cold and damp.
I don't know that mark offhand. Sometimes the marks weren't impressed very deeply.
