We're at about 8-9" in NE CT right now. It was almost gone from the last storm, now it's all covered up again. Time for spring.

Now had you bought a new snowmobile, flowers would be up!
Hang in there. we,re getting close.

Wrong year huh :icon_scratch: You do know this crap eventually melts, right :dontknow: :laughing7:

Haven't seen ground since mid December and about 18 inches of snow cover so at least another month to go. It's is the time of the year when I really get antsy to detect. Bare ground and above freezing temps is all I need.

But you didn't pick the wrong detector
and that's half the battle it will melt
unless your the one who is going to be responsible for an ice age

Oh you guys are cruel.....lol. Just wait until my grounds open up. I'm going to find the long lost treasure of Massachusetts! There is one right ? Until then I thank you all again for the information you share. Learned a lot with much more to learn.

That's the spirit!

Winter is actually a very productive time for detectorists. Spend this part of the year in your libraries and local history museums. Read old oral history reports. Find the oldest available maps of your town and county. Research ghost towns. Find out who owns the properties you want to hunt and get permission. Read the micro-film copies of the old newspapers. Focus on holiday times and look for references to locations of town events, swimming holes, picnic groves, etc.

There is LOT to keep you busy right now.

There can be some nice finds in the snow in the parking lots around the bars in the morning..... Those drunks lose every thing.....

Do you realy do that because we have a ton of snowmobile riders(AKA bar mobiles) around here and it has crossed my mind

Yes they Do, Windy nights are Very Good Also!!! In the Early morning Just head to the Down wind side Of the Bar And Take A Peek!!! Those Bills Fly far Sometimes!!

Look on the bright side, with all that snow you won't have any frost in the ground. You'll be digging in no time. The some that has buried you stayed south of here in northern Vt. Today for the first time this month we had sunshine, and forecast for 50's the next 3-4 days. Spring ahead tonight, and spring will be here before you know it.

.... Oh yes you would be surprised what you will find....And it is really easy digging.... but most of it is just about right on top unless it snowed during the night......You will still need your detector though....
