I spent a good full day out in the fields with IP finding a couple of new sites and checking a few more possible sites.
With some great solid research behind us, we didn't waste too much time driving around; we spent the day filling our pouches!

I hit lots coins, a few buttons and few miscellaneous relics.
Mostly common local tokens from the mid 1800s and large Canadian cents filled my pocket, but I did manage an old French sol at our last stop.I didn't find anything noteworthy as far as buttons this time around, but I did get a smushed sporting button and an advertising thimble for White Lily probably from around 1900. ( it says: Eat Mervyn's White Lily Biscuits, made of aluminum)
Noteable relics included a couple of crotal bells and an ironcore Enfield bullet, a scarce find.

Looks like you're on a sweet spot,, Congrats on your finds

Another thing I haven't dug forever, and iron core. It's funny you dug that thimble because I dug several pieces of the same type of trash that fooled me each time thinking I had an aluminum thimble.

Yoiu sure did dig some nice keepers. It's always nice when the time invested prior to the hunt pays off with finds like those.

Not a hunts button type I have seen, any new firsts are good.

IRON HORSE THE ONE REMINDS ME OF A SOLDIERS OF THE REV WAR BUTTON. FINE LOOKING SEWING THIMBLE ...

You were on some hot spots today (wish I was) that's a pile of copper.
Really like the french, maybe a pic or two of some others ?
And 5 bells between you, many would be thrilled over that.

My mother makes the best biscuits in the world, and she approves of White Lily, so great finds!

It would be really nice to dig that many copper on an outing, with the poor dirt farmers out this way it'd take many good sites and lots of hunts to get that many.
I've never dug an iron filled lead before, something different that's for sure. It sure looks like you had fun though, good luck on the next outing.

It was a 100+ year farm which wasn't really living up to what I had suspected, but walking lower in the field it appears they first settled there, and then moved up.

Hey there Rick
Not much to see on the tokens, you can read them, most are toast and you can just I'd them
A few from our first site had condition and little corrosion too bad they weren't older and rarer

There's a question about all those old tokens that remains unanswered , it was believed that once confederation took place for us in 1873 that the tokens were deemed obsolete and useless as no one would accept them any longer and since they weren't honoured people simply threw them away; this may explain some of them but I'm sure many were lost incidentally during the forty years many of them remained in circulation

Iron core Enfield bullet......that is just plain wicked! Very cool find nonetheless. All good stuff, but I go ga-ga over the coins and tokens you find.
Continued Good Luck,
Phil

Like the little frenchie...your collection still grows...good to be out digging again I imagine with the summer off!

With the summer off? Summer is just beginning for me
Great to be out digging!
Although the sol is a coin I've not found before, my collection could use a better one...
