I am starting this thread in the hopes that the members of this forum will flood it with pictures of all the various artifacts they have found and or collected over time. I figured this thread could provide novice hunters and collectors with a vast wealth from which to learn from and compare to.

What were bannerstones used for?

They were more of a counter weight on Atlatls . The darts would be about 6’ long . The weight of the dart and the counter weight of the atlatls bannerstone would balance the dart in the hand for better throwing accuracy.
I put together a home made atlatl with a bannerstone and purchased the materials to make the darts.

Never saw nothing even close like it . Hard to get a good photo but it looks like a babies foot ! Size too! Fits nicely in the hand..it has 5 toes and it is stone! It’s soooo cool In person!

Tomclark and your two examples sandchip are extra fine. They are kind of a mystery stone too with many thoughts as to use as I recall.

they don’t preserve in water or most soils very well.
