pin pointer

I found today that I could use the metal dector to find targets close to top of soil, and use pin pointer to look first some times coin right on top. No need to dig. Has any one else tryed this?

Definitely. If the detector signal is strong, I always check to see if the pinpointer can sense it...if so, I just use a probe or my fingers to get the target, unless it's sitting right on top of the ground.

Yeah RC, if my machine says its under an inch I turn the sensitivity all the way up on my pinpointer & check the surface first, no need in digging a hole. Which pinpointer do you use? I have a whites Bullseye2.

I use the pin pointerI thinking about get pin PointerII and giving my son the old one. Is it about 1" better?

Actualy, I bought the bullseye 1 about 6 weeks ago (when I got my first detector) & it stopped working last week so I got the bullseye2. I prefer the 1st one over the new one, although it didnt have the sensitivity adjustment it was much louder, I am having to take headphones off one ear to hear the pinponter #2. Im getting used to it & it is a nice machine, you may buy the new one & end up giving IT to your son..................I dont think it gets 1" better but you can turn up sensitivity on #1, the adjustment is inside the case. I read a post somewhere on this site about it.

You might want to try switching the Bullseye II to vibrate mode. The II also has sensitivity control and a button rather than toggle switch to turn on. Doesn't turn on accidentally as easily. Personally I like the II better.

I have the Treasure Mate & like it fine. Tip: I'm a hunter, it works great to find shot in game.

I have both the Bullseye 1 and 2 and like the old one better. I know it's personality very well. My son prefers the other one, so it works out for us.
