Pioneer 505 - meant to come with 2 coils? Should it have a 4" or just an 8"?

Hello,

I just bought my wife a Pioneer 505 and I have read extensive reviews about it and/or Bounty Hunter products in general and am very excited to get my own and for both of us to get started.

However in some of the reviews I read, some people mentioned getting 2 coils, an 8" and a 4".
Only one coil came in my box, an 8". I do see a second spot on the cardboard the 8" was attached to though. Also in the manual, the 4" is listed on the table of contents and mentioned on the back page. I can't however find anything that lists the box contents.

Did anyone else get 2 coils? Should I have gotten 2 or do they sometimes just come with the one.

Mine was bought brand new , in the box , from Wal-mart.

Ok just got off the phone with First Texas and am even more confused.

The woman first said "No, the 4" is sold as an accessory". When I then told her that the website only offered a 10" for the 505, she said hold on while I verify that.

She then came back and said her supervisor told her that it WAS supposed to have come with both an 8" and a 4" and that I should take it back to the store.

I would go back to Walmart and and exchange it for a new one and check the box contents before i would pay for it.For i have got things at Walmart with items missing from the box............==Jim==

Ok well I did go back to walmart, popped open a new box they had there and it also didn't have the coil.
Been trying to get ahold of someone from First Texas pretty much all day, keep getting transfered to voicemail, operator says they're "very busy" lol.

Anyway, we've gotten over the whole "we want our 4" coil!" thing, and even the "well does this mean we can never ever get a 4" coil?" dilemma, and moved onto, "we don't care we're just going to use the darn thing".

We did also go to a White dealer and got a very nice demonstration of a couple different models.
Since we've still not even used the BH yet we didn't think it would be a good idea to lay down a bunch of money on a White just yet. But we are going to want a 2nd one soon so we'll see, lol.

Beachcomber, I bought a BH Pioneer 505 today. Mine only came with the 8" coil. On the box it gives no indication that a 4" coil should come with it. On page 14 in the owners manual, last paragraph it just suggest using a BH 4" coil for small targets. I assumed you have to buy it separate.

I bought a 505 three years from Wal-Mart, it came with both the 4" and 8" coil.

BeachComber, my husband called BH today about the 4" coil. They are very helpful! The person who answered the call....called us three times and the last time she had the answer to our question. The BHP 505 does NOT come with the 4" coil. You can however order one from them for $39 and $10 shipping.

Ok cool, thanks for letting me know what you guys got in your 505 box.

Yeah like I said, the woman from First Texas ultimately said her supervisor told her that yes it was supposed to come with (2) coils and that I should return it to the store, as sending it in to them would take considerably longer.

But since another one at the store only had the 1 coil as well I guess they stopped doing the (2) coil dealy since Uncle Spud and the others I saw mention it, got theirs.


Anyhoo, we're over it and will get one from ebay if we ever want one.

Yes it should have come with the 4 inch coil also. Sounds to me like someone took it out the box and is selling it on Ebay for 30 bucks.

sorry folks, the Bounty Hunter Pioneer series is made exclusively for marketing by Walmart. It is made to the features ordered by walmart, so don't be surprised it doesn't have the 4 inch coil, that costs walmart more money to buy them and they can't make that up when they sell them

I bought the Pioneer 505 from a pawn shop, brand new in the box, had wal mart on the box. It did include the 4 inch coil and an 8 inch coil. I have used both and like the 8 inch much better myself. Never even put the 4 inch back on. I suppose if I were prospecting or searching around rocks and such I may find it more useful. Some say they like a smallr coil in trashy areas but then I dig everthing so it doesnt matter to me if there is alot of trash. The 4 inch didnt seem to have quite the depth of the 8 inch.

Got mine at Wal Mart, came with 4" coil, so did my friends...lol I like the 4" to pinpoint in trashy areas, but you're right, no where near the depth, and don't forget you have the 4 inch on, then drive all the way to the big field you finally got permission to hunt, trust me, it stinks...lol

Bought my 505 2 years ago off Ebay. Had walmart sicker on it. Had the two coils.

Mine came with a 4" coil. Haven't used it yet though. FYI, my oh-so-thoughtful girlfriend ordered my 505 off some website.

Bought mine at walmart 3 yrs ago ,and did come with a 4'' coil!! Maabe that was a one time thing,mabe the price is different i think i paid around 280 4 mine ....

Bought mine online from Walmart last September. It came with both coils. I have never used the Gold Nugget coil- but man am I having a blast with the 8". You name it - I have found it - gold and silver rings, 100 bucks in clad, Tokens of all kinds. Wheaties, silver dime...the machine is a killer. Did you get the instructional video too?
