You're right, the ink was blown around 1800, give or take a few years. Pitkin Glass Works operated from 1780-1830, and there were other Connecticut glass factories in the same area, e.g., Mather, Glastonbury, and Coventry, that ran within a similar time frame. As a long-time collector of Pitkin-type flasks and inks, this ink is very special to me!

I'm think I would speak for everyone in saying feel free to post pictures of your collection. We would love to see!

Thank you, I'd be glad to share a few photos! I've been collecting Pitkin types for many years and am still learning, but if anyone has questions about Pitkins, please ask away ... I'll do my best to answer! This group of yellow Pitkin flasks shows a variety of shapes, but I took the photo to usher in Autumn with the golden colors. IMG_1615.webp

Thank you so much! I can post more photos if you'd like, and would love to see what you collect too!

Thank you, too! What a great portrait of the Hon. William Pitkin!

Hey deershed,

I go to the #1 post in the thread and on the medium beige line that contains the OP's date and time stamp, over on the right hand side, just this side of the "#1," there is a maroon button that reads "Nominate Banner." Click that and a dialogue box will appear, list your thoughts on why it should be on the banner…

Let's vote this beauty up top!

I think I voted banner.Clicked on nominate banner and said why I thought it should be a banner, then screen went away.

Did my vote go through?Hope so,Sweet piece....

That is awesome, and congrats on the sale!

This is the kind of stuff that makes this hobby so great. Its A fantastic story that you can tell your grandkids someday. Now, get back out there and find something else. May your back be strong and your shovel be sharp.

Sorry, but with the way inflation is going, by the time the 'grandkids' are old enough to appreciate the ink well, I'm afraid that at $3,000, they won't be impressed with him only getting the price of a pound of hamburger. (lol)

RelicDude, beautiful!!

congrats on banner awesome find

ive seen one like that in a collection in east Hartford ct. the guy who ownd it had a bunch of regular Pitkin inks a square one and a rectangle one . he passed away. I spoke to his wife after his passing and she told me she was sitting in the kitchen one night and she heard a crash from the living room . she went in to find all her husbands prized Pitkin inks smashed all over the floor. I remember seeing that case on the wall and it was on there really well.. my god he had to have fifty grand sitting in that case.. it was truly a shame.. what an awesome find I would keep digging there..
