Lately, i have been looking for some pontilled bottles. what would you advise paying for slick pontilled bottles at, say, a flea market? I cant seem to afford any embossed ones.

are they even worth picking up? i know this might be a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" type deal, but i would like a second opinion.
Thanks for lookin! :icon_thumright:

Depends on size ,color, age and alot of times individual appeal. Plenty of embossed ones out there 20 bucks or less. I picked up a Husband's Calcined Magnesia at a show I went to for 5 bucks and it was open pontil. Don't settle if embossed is what you really want. Of course anything crude, whittled with a pontil has my vote embossed or not.

Just paid ten bucks for a pontiled round bottle half gallon, gin clear glass, attic piece, maybe one small bubble, spout is ground for glass stopper, but no stopper. Pics soon. I paid about a fair price. After all, most pontiled pieces have to be worth ten bucks, especially wet shiny attic pieces, I guess.

Whittled is the wavy glass look. Came out of the wooden mold that way. jgas
