Can somebody please confirm me that this is a Mexican 8 reales(piece of 8) of 1820?
What is it's value?

by it markings -- supposed to be a --- 1820 spanish 8 reales (8 R) --- mexico mint mark (M with small "o") -- assayers are J - I

prices can vary widely from plain silver melt value to a highly interested collector -- documented shipwreck coins can be worth much more than a land found one. -- land found dug vs non dug also plays a factor -- bottom line --its worth as little as you will let it go for and as much buyer will pay for it --once those two "ends" meet --thats what its worth --right then / right there at that moment in time. --

Thanks, it was indeed found at a shipwreck but we don't know the name yet.

Your Mexico City 8R coin should show a 'JJ' assayer's mark. A few years ago, that coin, in VG condition was retail-valued at $20 ($90 in XF). At that same time, 1810 'TH' 8Rs were worth $75; but the real keeper in that series is the 1814/3 (HJ assayer) that was worth $1,200--and several thousands more in the best of condition.
