Well, I say pre 1934 because it was my grandma who found it when she was playing in a dirt pile as a girl, she was born in 1927 and I guessed 8 years old. The place cleveland ohio,Euclid beach area around millionaire's row, construction or demolition I do not know.she kept it all these years and I come into possession of it when I was 14. Till now I finally figured I can use technology of the web and its people to ID this piece. I believe it to a silver body, 1 3/4" long,LEORA is the brand on the face with Roman numerals. Ruby's and diamonds around the top and bottom of face, wind up of course, an inscription Z.M. GOSHA. Here are the pictures, any idea's its brand or its worth or its original owner?

Hi! Great story :icon_thumleft:

I did a little searching on Ancestry.com and - just going by the unusual initial "Z" and not very common last name- I think that maybe Z M Gosha is "Zada Miller Gosha" who lived in Appleton, Wisconsin. She was born in about 1878 and died in 1961. Her husband was Frank Gosha and he is listed as being employed by Kimberly & Clark paper. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of Eagles in Appleton. She did not have any children listed in her obituary.

Thank you bramblefind..... does help to put a name to this watch. I did have the works cleaned and left the original face dial glass in place so as to leave it in its original looking state. It works when wound, do you think putting a new glass in would subtract from any value it has going for it?one again thank you for your time.

Without a visible band, it appears to be an antique ladies lapel watch.
I was thinking the same way after I posted this, I did notice were it was hung or attached shows signs of wear. Thank you for your input

According to this link, Leora style watches were made by the Helbros Watch Co. and used diamonds & rubies:

http://webcache.googleusercontent.c...antique+leora+watch?&cd=2&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us (scroll down to 3rd row from the bottom, a Leora watch is on the far left)

Helbros. Watch Co (1913-?) assembled, rather than manufactured:

http://forums.watchuseek.com/f11/short-history-helbros-295220.html cool, one more piece. To the puzzle. That is the first " leora" marked watch other than the one I own. One thing I noticed is there is a hanger on both sides of the watch, thats originally why I pegged it as a "wrist" watch.
