Hey I detect on beaches so to my belief that’s is a dirty caked piece of jewelry necklace or bracelet . That’s what happens to non gold or silver over time called corrosion u should clean look for a stamp if u can see that it’s hand made possibly old or colonial be gentle no chemicals

Ever think of cleaning your item prior to posting ?

This would help not only me ... but others here immensely.

At least a heavy rinse after a good soak in bowl of soapy water at the very least.

I like the choke chain idea. Looks like a couple that I have found, although mine came from dirt and are more identifiable.
