Only slight attraction with magnet
Left faint grey streak test.

It's a rock, commonly known as "Leaverite."

It looks like diorite to me. Igneous, intrusive. Plagioclase feldspar, biotite, horn blend and pyroxine. Around 2 billion yrs old. Formed mainly in tectonic plate subduction zones.

I’ve carved it before and it takes on a nice polish.👍🏻

AI gives you the answer... or at least a possible answer:

"Yes, diorite is found near Knights Ferry, California. Specifically, it's associated with the Halleck Hill intrusive rocks, which are described as fine- to medium-grained diorite, leucocratic porphyry, and pegmatites. These rocks are located in the western-central part of the Columbia 7.5' quadrangle, which includes the area around Knights Ferry. The diorite is often found in an arcuate band near Halleck Hill, with inclusions of dark gray hornfels and xenoliths of more mafic rock types."
