Thank you for answering...yes it is a stone and I have never seen one like this. I am visiting my brother in Michigan and took it to a local rock shop and he said the lines were not made by nature. He thought it was a Native American tool. I asked an archeologist in Texas and she said it could be a sharpening stone. It is very odd.
I live in MI ann Arbor. That's kinda what I thought it looked like from the picture. That would be a great relic if it is a Native artifact if you look under forums on this site there is a Native artifact forum you could also post it on. Sedimentary rock, riddled with quartz (possibly calcite) veins. Under massive pressure the rock formed cracks, the cracks filled with minerals that eventually became solidified.
