Hi, My name is Shane and I and taking The wife and little girl camping in the Uwharrie this weekend. I need help finding a good place to sluice, pan, camp maybe even find an arrowhead or artifact. I have been reasearching like crazy but there isnt a lot of info about eastern gold. I have been hunting for gold at the Low Water Bridge several times and always found color, but I would like to find a smaller stream where we can set up camp. It must be inside the park of coarse so I was thinking somewhere along Horsepen Creek or maybe Moccasin creek. I would appreciate any suggestions. My little girl has her heart set on finding an arrow point. She searches every rock pile, even at the home depot! If anyone could suggest a good place to look we would be very grateful. Thank you in advance and the best of luck to you all.

Thank you very much, I will check out both places. The one by 718 looks good. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

Be careful if you find any artifacts, I think it is against the rules and regulations to keep or hunt for any artifacts in the Uwharrie N. F., I believe that you're suppose to turn in any artifacts to the Ranger's Station, make a call before going to the Ranger's Station just so you will know for sure, I know that you CANNOT use a metal detector in the Uwharrie because of the artifacts that may be found using one, if any Ranger see you with a detector you will receive a citation and possibly have the detector confiscated, it is OK to have one in your car but don't take it out for any reason.

I just wanted you to be careful and not pull out an artifact in front of a Ranger without knowing if it was legal.

I've only been to Uwharrie a couple of times and didn't get to do any prospecting, but I was told by a few friends that Moccasin Creek had some color to be found.

Good luck and have a great time!!

Heres a video I found that might be from Uwharrie. I dont know if it is for sure, but it came up on my search.
