why when it rains coin targets are better than when the soil is dry. I experience this at the airbase that i detect and wondered what is the technical reason.

conductivity. the water boosts the conductivity of the halo effect making it easier for your detector to read weaker signals resulting in you finding more coins. also easier to dig wet ground so you can physically dig more coins in less time. When the ground is wet you'll pull in the coins on edge and tilted in the ground. Dry ground you'll mainly hear only the coins laying flat. siegfried schlagrule
