A Minersville man is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges after police say he fired several shots inside his apartment early Friday morning.
According to court documents by Patrolman Cody Searfoss, officers were dispatched around 6:08 a.m. on April 10, 2026, to the 500 block of Sunbury Street to make contact with David Weidner, 62, who reportedly told authorities he had fired a gun inside his residence at 464 Sunbury Street.
Police made contact with Weidner outside his apartment and located a firearm in his right pants pocket. The weapon, identified as a Hi-Point Model C9 9mm pistol, was secured by officers. Investigators say Weidner did not have a valid concealed carry permit.
During the investigation, Weidner allegedly told police he believed “hologram-type people” were attempting to attack him. He told officers he fired one shot at his closed bedroom door, then opened the door and fired another shot at a wall across from the bedroom. He also reported firing a shot down a hallway toward the living room at a black trash bag, before moving into a bathroom and firing another round down the hallway.
Police later recovered multiple shell casings from inside the apartment, including two in the bedroom and two in the hallway. Officers also observed bullet holes in the bedroom door, a wall across from the bedroom, and another wall in the residence. Two bullet holes were also found in a trash bag located in the living room.
Authorities noted that the apartment is part of a row of attached homes, with other occupied units located above and adjacent to the residence.
Weidner has been charged with:
- Felony 3 – Discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure
- Felony 3 – Carrying a firearm without a license
- Misdemeanor 2 – Recklessly endangering another person
- Misdemeanor 3 – Disorderly conduct
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel for April 21st, 2026
