Please help I'd this. All I know is that she said she thinks it was found off the coast of Puerto Rico by drivers and than acquired by a rich private collect who had a large collect of simulator objects, the private collector died and the collection broken up where the now owners late husband acquired it. That's really all I know. She did say two local university archies told her it was authentic. Please I really need some help on this!

I did a search for "simulator objects," but the closest I could find appeared under stimulator objects .. I can't post those results on the forum though.:laughing7:

Yeah, if the archeologists authenticated it then why are you here? You have to know what it is.

I know, I just don't get it.??? Unless they trust our picture ID better than a hands on Archy opinion.

I've been dealing with antiques/collectibles all of my life, but 'simulated objects' is news to me. What is a collection of simulated objects?

From what I can see from the photos, it looks like 2 Asian Foo Dog heads.

Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure the OP meant to type "similar" objects.

Here is my "layman's" take on the artifact. It may be a pre-Columbian, Mesoamerican twin-frog-effigy sensor (for incense) with the loop made to string a cloth or rope handle through it for carrying or hanging. Found a similar one on line:

tairona_double_face_vessel.webp
1000 AD - 1500 AD

An unusual Tairona vessel from Colombia, S. America. Two footed jars are joined at the middle and at the top by a strap handle. Unlike most double-chieftain 'Janus' vessels, it portrays females. Each is nicely sculpted with realistically detailed faces and long flowing hair. Burnished blackware surface with light wear and deposits. In near excellent condition. One rim chip and two base chips restored, otherwise intact. Ex. Atlanta, Georgia private collection. $550
