I have never seen anything like it but that doesn't mean it isn't an artifact. It's a very unusual shape. Can you post pics looking down on the top and bottom? The top looks very similar to the top of a pestle. Pretty cool stone even if it's natural.

Size is 2 inches wide by 1.75 inches tall. To me it looks like a diff animal each way you rotate it. One way looks like a turtles neck and head, another like a bird in flight with its wings pointing downward, then a persons head with a large nose, and finally an animal with a ride on top. Maybe that's just wishful thinking though.

Weird....looks like a carving to me....and I can see some of what you see in it, especially the "person riding something."

Can't place where, but seems I've seen a similar thing that was considered a childs toy of some sort.

Mounted to the end of a stick with the notch up would make for an awesome fishing rod prop... certainly better than a forked stick.
