Hello TreasureNetters!

I know this isn't anything special, but I'm new to detecting/treasure hunting, so it's cool to me. I was at a late 1800's early 1900's small house site and found this button, that I think may be made of bone. I have 3 questions.

1. Is it bone?
2. What time period is it from
3. What kind of garment would it go off of.

Thanks!

Hello Case,

Welcome to TNet, and thanks for showing us your button.

It does look to be bone. They are difficult to date, as they were made for a long period of time. With the four holes, appearing to be countersunk, i'd put it at Turn of the Century. Any garment that used buttons of that size would be a candidate…
