Look's like it has no Back Mark , so it would be called a "local" mfg In the Civil War relic world , so size in MM will be needed + the style of the Back does help but i'm not knowledgeable enough about Civil War Buttons.

Was it an Ocean Beach ?
BTW, Great Photos , the back takes up my whole Lap-Top Screen.
It does look old .
Dude bro I think it is a CW pelican button!!! I’m no expert but that’s what I’m seeing. Congratulations on a great great find. Madisonville is one of the oldest settlements in the state of Louisiana and is the oldest permanent settlement in St Tammany Parish. It is the southern end of the pony express. Mail carriers delivered their mail on horseback to Post Oak, a large oak tree that once stood on the Tchefuncte river. From there, the mail would travel by schooner to New Orleans.
It does look like a Civil War Louisiana button. I also agree with the idea of it being, a local, as in local manufacture, not imported. Very nice find.
Where you at the state park or did you do to that small beach in Madisonville right off of the causeway. I’ve been both places....once again congratulations!!!!!!
